New: Free Art Basics Collection
I made a new collection of art basics articles, which are always free for everyone.

Aye, mateys. You’ll feel like a real pirate when you uncover the new treasure trove of free articles on Artist’s Cheat Sheet!
Arrrchived
It was always my intention to provide a lot of free art education material to an audience made up of those who could and could not afford to pay for it. Most of my articles go out free initially, then after two weeks they are archived for paid subscribers only. (Or a substantial free preview is included as part of my paid articles.)
Unlocked
Starting today I have unlocked a smattering of articles in the archive, and I’ve even given them their own collection which you can find on the main page of the web version of Artist’s Cheat Sheet. While you’re there you’ll notice I added a convenient link to my online and in-person workshops in the middle of the navigation bar at the top, plus a way to leave a tip for me if you desire.
What’s included in the free collection?
I’ve included my basic lessons on gouache, watercolors, animation, digital painting, video demos, and even some travel and human interest stories.
And if you’re a free subscriber who thinks that they, too, can chip in to support this undertaking (to support my work of course, but also to make articles accessible to all) then please become a paid subscriber at the button below. You’ll get a whole lot, for a just little. Promise.
Note: I noticed that the default sorting for the Free Collection is “Latest” articles. If you switch the sorting to “Top” articles or articles with “Discussions” then some paid ones get mixed in. That’s a Substack feature I can’t change.
Zoungy, placing this tutorial collection all in one accessible place should prove helpful to many, including me. Thanks!
