Subscriptions Now Half Price
Everyone’s trying to save, so I have cut the cost of Artist Cheat Sheet
Have you noticed that—like everyone else—artists are looking to save a penny or two these days? I have; I’m one of them. To make my Substack more affordable for everyone, I have slashed yearly subscriptions in half. Yes, half, like the half sticks of pastel in the image above. This comes with a trade-off that hopefully will benefit both readers and me.

Already-paying subscribers, please note that your plan is locked in at your current subscription’s original price. I’m hoping some of you will choose to keep supporting at that level! However, you can unsubscribe and re-subscribe at a lower price if so desired.
The trade-off
Now that subscription prices are at their lowest, I will shift my focus to full-length articles for paid subscribers, which will include partial previews for free readers. My hope is: more members of my free reading audience can now become paid subscribers at the new, lower price.
Here’s what you’ll get:
Paid Subscribers (contribute as little as $2.50/month)
✅ Monthly, live Sketch & Paint Club session invites
✅ Full-length articles
✅ Art reference archive of 300 illustrated articles
Free Subscribers
✅ The Free Articles Collection remains in the homepage navigation bar, with basic lessons in a wide variety of media.
✅ Free partial previews of paid articles
Supporting independent writers
Independent writers like me depend on reader support. Thank you for boosting my Substack by leaving comments and interacting with posts and sharing my publication with your art-loving friends.
I’ve also made it easier than ever to subscribe. Help me put in the time it takes to publish a small, independent, arts education newsletter if you can.
I hope you will find the new paid subscriber levels fair and reasonable. Many small contributions really do add up. Thank you for your continued support!
Articles you may enjoy—
Did you know? I do not use generative AI to write or illustrate my articles. These were all written, illustrated, and edited by me, personally:

Zoungy, I’ll happily stay with you at the old rate since your instruction is worth it. Yet hopefully you’ll get enough new subscribers to make it work. Truly, inflation is frustrating many of us. I just dumped Netflix and decided that my car needs gas more than satellite radio. We all need to choose between what’s important and what isn’t. As Mr. Gurney says, “Art is for everyone,” which means it’s important.
